One of them is the IAS Exams. To make your dreams come true candidates need to cross the Prelims, Mains, and Interview round, and after cracking these stages they will be eligible for the Civil Services of India.
Who is An IAS Officer?
The former name of the IAS Exam was Imperial Civil Services. Union Public Service Commission recruits Administrative Service Officers for the top posts like the IFS, IPS, and many other civil services jobs. Prior to applying candidates must be aware of some essential steps like eligibility criteria, age restriction, educational qualification, nationality requirements, exam pattern, prelims, and UPSC mains syllabus, and some details about the interview round.
The age restriction is 21 years minimum and 32 years maximum. However, there are several categories that have an age relaxation of 3 to 10 years. In educational qualification candidates must have a graduate degree from a recognized university, aspirants with technical and professional degrees and some of them who are in their finals are also eligible for IAS exams. Nationality criteria for this examination are that the candidates should be a citizen of India, Bhutan, and Nepal, but if applicants are from different countries like Pakistan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia and more can also apply but they must be migrated and settled in India.
What Is The Syllabus For The UPSC Mains?
After qualifying for the preliminary round, it’s necessary to have a brief knowledge of the mains syllabus. It consists of two qualifying, four general studies with two alternative papers. Paper A and B include comprehension, Vocabulary, Short Essays, and Precis Writing. Paper 1 is all about English and candidates need to write essays according to the list. GS Paper 2 consists of topics like Science and Technologies, History which covers Literature, Architecture, from ancient till present times, Independence struggles, Decolonization, Communism, Socialism, Political Philosophies, National Boundaries, and many more.
Geography covers topics like Geographical Phenomena, World Physical Boundaries, and more ahead with Indian culture and Heritage. GS Paper 2 covers Political matters like Indian Constitution, Government Policies, Social issues such as poverty and hunger, Groupings, and Agreements that are affecting the country. GS Paper 3 tests your keen eye on current happenings in Technologies, Environmental and Economic Development, and Biodiversity. Indian Economics, Government Budgeting, Infrastructure, and Effects of Liberalization are under Economics. Agriculture has details about the Direct and Indirect Farm Subsidies, Agricultural Production, Animal Husbandry, Food Processing, and Land Reforms. GS Paper 4 covers Human Ethics like Attitudes, Case Studies, Ethic Interface, values taught by leaders, and great personalities. Rules and Regulations, Governmental Ethics, Ethical Dilemmas of government, and Institutions that perform privately come under Integrity. Lastly, GS Paper 4 which is Aptitude. Choosing the correct optional subject is also a big decision. Among 48 subjects’ aspirants need to select one subject with a total of 250 points.
